Former Olympian and professional competition horse breeder Rowland Ferneyhough, is an admirer of Westpoint Quickfire, having bred numerous progeny by him.- to quote “Progeny by Quickfire possess his impressive elasticity through the back, trainable willing temperament and in a positive manner his sharp reactions”.
Such attributes would also suit the breeding of top eventers, in particular elasticity in gaits – crucial for gaining best dressage scores, in order to win championships nowadays.
Quickfire’s sire:
Quick Star is the son of two highly successful international show jumpers. The sire, Galoubet A is one of the most popular show jumpers of his time who has rewritten the record books: in Europe over 50% of his first 2 crops are Grand Prix jumpers and over 20% of progeny are international jumpers. He has sired some of the world’s most prestigious show jumpers, most notably the 3x winner of the World Cup Baloubet du Rouet.He was team Gold medallist at the World Championships 1982 and Champion of France in 1977, 79 and 82.The dam Stella was the winner of 32 Grand Prix’s and also the French Champion as a 3, 4 and 5 year old.
QUICK STAR has proven himself at the highest international levels of show jumping competitions:
– In 1994 1st Pulsar International Grand Prix Aachen, 1st CSI Grand Prix of Munchen, 1st UPS Champion of Mannheim, 2nd Volvo World Cup Qualifier of Helsinki, 2nd CSI Grand Prix of Neuwunster.
– In 1993 1st Mercedes Benz Grand Prix of Mannheim, 2nd AKZO Trophy-Grand Prix of Arnhem.
– In 1992 1st EC Trophy CSI Grand Prix of Maastricht, 2nd Volvo World Cup qualifier Oslo.
QuickStar has sired international winners that have shone in show jumping circuits all over the world, notably:
– Sprehe Stella, the CSIO internationally winning mare
– Quilot Z, 6th at the Young Horse World Championships for 5 yr olds at Zangersheide
– Quicksy, 4th at the Young Horse 5 year old Championships in Warendorf, Germany
– Qrocant Z, 1994 European Foal Champion at Lanaken
